In Great Britain, batteries must meet mercury and cadmium limits and carry the crossed-out bin and chemical symbols; producers register and finance collection and recycling. In Northern Ireland sellers already follow the EU Battery Regulation, including the battery passport from 18 February 2027 for EV, light means of transport and industrial batteries over 2 kWh.

Kogo dotyczy
Producers (first in the UK supply chain, including importers): portable battery producers over 1 tonne a year join a battery compliance scheme; 1 tonne or less register directly. Industrial and automotive producers register with OPSS. Distributors have take-back duties. Northern Ireland: all economic operators under the EU Battery Regulation.

- GB: no battery above 0.0005 % mercury; no portable battery above 0.002 % cadmium (with exceptions)
- GB: crossed-out wheeled bin, Hg/Cd/Pb symbols where limits are exceeded, capacity labelling
- GB: appliances must allow batteries to be removed
- Register as a producer and report tonnage and chemistry (industrial and automotive: also brand)
- Show the battery producer registration number on invoices and delivery notes to distributors and business users
- Northern Ireland: EU labels, QR code, battery passport and due diligence on the EU dates
